Situation: An anticyclone over the north Tasman Sea is spreading east on to northern New Zealand. A cold front near Tasmania is moving east towards southern New Zealand. Forecast: Canterbury: Moderate northerlies; mainly fine, but some high cloud and morning fog; moderate.
Marlborough, Nelson: Light winds, northerlies freshening later about northern Sounds; fine; moderate. Buller, Westland: Moderate south-westerlies; cloudy, scattered light rain in Westland; cool. Outlook: Showers about the western ranges, otherwise fair in Canterbury. Cloudy elsewhere, some rain on the West Coast.
