Overseas orders fall
PA Wellington The survey of overseas orders and payments for April. 1979, shows that orders (excluding those for mineral fuels) have fallen by 11 per cent from the March level. When the effects of normal seasonal variations are removed, monthly orders (excluding mineral fuels) for April show little movement on those for March, according to the Government Statistician (Mr E. A. Harris). Orders (excluding mineral fuels) for the three months ended- Aoril, 1979,
were 5469.5 M, an increase of 8 per cent on the previous three months, and an increase of 52 per cent on the three months ended April, 1978. Surveyed orders for mineral fuels fluctuate considerably. In the six months ended April, 1979, they totalled $285.3M, which compares with $286.7M for the six months ended April, 1978. Payments for private import (including mineral fuels) for the 12 months ending October, 1979, are projected to be $3374M, an increase of 19.1 per
cent over actual payments of $2832.6M for the year ended, October, 1978. The latest calculation is made up of actual private import payments to the end of April, 1979, as released by the Reserve Bank, together with an estimate of import payments for the six months to October, 1979. This forward estimate, based on the orders and payments survey, indicates that private import payments will average $296M a month from May to July, 1979, and S3O3M a month from August to October, 1979.
