National Party policy

Sir, — Jill Lowe’s reply (June 15) to M. T. Moore contained one splendid truism when she wrote that “an overdrawn bank account means deprived people.” How very true. Our bud-geted-for deficit (overdraft) for the current financial year will be around SIOOOM, give or take a few hundred millions. So we shall continue to be a deprived people. That is why I paid 98 cents today for six members of the humble saveloy family. So, if Labour is bad news, National surely qualifies as catastrophic. Just as well the broadcasting schedules of radio and TV news are to be cut. After all, according to Mr Templeton, we are heading for grimmer days with more sales taxes to be imposed — so that’s one aspect of news to be curtailed. The weather reports are bad enough, anyway. — Yours, etc., L. A. H. BOGREN. June 15, 19791
