Dempsey second
The aggressive Lancaster Park opening batsman. Dave Dempsey, has moved into second place in the Lion player of the day competition. He took his total to 10 on Saturday, with a brisk innings of 80 against Old Boys, but he is still eight points behind Bill Thomson of Sydenham. Third place is shared by Tony Collins. Rod Fulton, Cran Bull and Tim Burdoch, who each have nine points. Saturday's awards were:— Three points: Murray Polson, Peter Coman, Dempsey, John Mitchell.
Two.—Robbie Deans, Mike Hamel, Andrew Nuttall, Peter Wallace.
One.—Lindsay Forde, Murdoch, Collins. Neil Francis.
