Sports teams in motels
Sir, — Having learned of the recent vandalism in motels and hotels by a sports team, we think that it is about time sports teams got the message on how to behave while visiting other towns. We are sure we speak for the majority of moteliers when we say we are getting a bit fed up by the way these people behave. We realise they go
away to “play” but, surely, they could have respect for other people’s property and curtail their behaviour while in the motels and hotels. It’s not only the vandalism but the mess we are left to clean up when these folk depart, and we would like to see how some of these people live and treat their own homes. Unless some steps are taken by sports club officials to train their players in behaviour as well as sports they will not be welcome in any hotels or motels. We are not condemning all sports teams: but the minority spoil it for the majority. — Yours, etc., A. MCDONALD, Secretary,
Nelson Motel Association. September 21, 1978.
