Coach ‘over-reacted’
NZPA staff correspondent Edmonton The manager of the New Zealand Commonwealth Games team, Mr Jack Prestney, last night defended the remarks he made at the week-end about runner Dick Quax. He was commenting on the reaction of Quax's coach, Mr John
Davies, who said in New 2el land he was “upset and angry/ On Sunday, Mr Prestney toll the N.Z.P.A. he was "very du pleased*' that Quax had not kep New Zealand authorities up # date with his movements. Mr Davies replied that M Prestney’s "outburst” did nothin' to promote a top performane from Quax. He added he wouli be surprised if Quax now run in Edmonton. Mr Prestney said last nigh that Mr Davies appeared to haw over-reacted. "I’m disappoints in his reaction,” he said. 11 didn't criticise Quax personal! —just said that it would b nice if he let people knot where he is. I didn't know whtr he was until I was told on Sul day, and that was why I sai I was very displeased that Qua had not kept people informed,
