Fire at Templeton
Fire severely damaged a classroom at the Templeton Hospital and Training School yesterday afternoon.
Nobody was in the classroom when the fire broke out about 3.50 p.m., according to a hospital spokesman. Four engines, from the Harewood, Sockbum, and Headquarters stations, attended, but the 12m x 8m prefabricated building was well alight by the time the
first engines arrived. Part of the roof collapsed before the fire could be controlled, and the rest of‘.the building was damaged by smoke and water. The cause of the fire had not been firmly established last evening. There were no suspicious circumstances, however.
Classes would not be disrupted, said a hospital spokesman.
