Mr Thompson was one of I Tour candidates for three !North Island seats on the; executive. The successful candidates were Messrs L. .1. Rutherford, of Whangarei, (and R. Hanford, of Auckland, and Dr I. N. R. McKay, dof Palmerston North. j Messrs Rutherford and ; Thompson were retiring members. Mr G. C. Cruickshank, of i Invercargill, defeated Mr R. 'Lewis, of Auckland, in an
i election for the position of: ; president. Mr Cruickshank [ J will be holding the office fori a fifth term. Sir James Barnes, of I Dunedin, and Mr C. H jßaynes, of Gore, were the' | successful candidates for! .[two South Island seats on [ the executive. The unsuccessful candidate was Mr P •ij. O’Brien, of Blenheim. ■ Mr M. M. N. Corner, of ■ Auckland, was defeated by ■ C. R. Elliott, of Morrinsville, ’ as the North Island repre- > sentative on the Racing Authority. 1 Mr Elliott was unopposed 1 for the position of North Island vice-president, as was f Mr H. J.
