Capping mag. a good seller
Sales of the University of Canterbury capping magazine, “Needeep”, in Christchurch on Thursday. evening and yesterday had been better than hoped for, said the capping controller, Mr P. Boyce. Twenty thousand copies had been printed and by early last evening only about 500 were left at capping headquarters. These and a few more expected to be returned by sellers late last evening would be on sale at New Brighton today. “Needeep” had generally been accepted as a better magazine than ever, said Mr Boyce.
The charity controller, Ms Christine Fowke, said that $3lOO had been collected for the medical accident team in the students’ street appeal on Thursday. She was disappointed about the small number of students' who had- volunteered to act as collectors. Capping-week activities yesterday included a continuation of the Nazi spoof. Students staged a “Nurenjberg rally” and transported the “Fuehrer” into Cathedral Square in a Mercedes car.
The “New Zealand National Front”, in blue shirts and jeans, and the “stormtroopers,” in black leather, marched behind the car.
