Arapawa goals

Sir, — Recently Wild-life Action approached the Marlborough Maritime Parks Board with an offer to carry out a scientifically based culling operation of goats on the island at “no cost to the New Zealand taxpayer.’’ This offer was rejected by the board. As a member of Wild-life Action with 30 years experience culling deer, pigs, and goats in many parts of New Zealand, and having participated in the last two goat musters on Arapawa, I would like to know: how can the board justify such a refusal with the state of the economy running at such a low ebb? —Yours, etc., K. S, CRISP. April 26, 1978.
