Women “Superstars” in new TV2 series
Ten of the country’s top sportswomen took part in the recording of South Pacific Television’s “Woman Superstars,” which will be screened in a special programme early in the New Year.
Those taking part were: Linda Taylor, New Zealand water ski-ing representative, of Pakuranga. Penny Whiting, of Herne Bay, Auckland, who has represented New Zealand in both yachting and surfing. Marilyn Marshall, of Kilbimie, Wellington, New Zealand softball representative,
1976 New Zealand and Wellington softballer of the year, and 1977 Wellington soccer player of the year. Lorraine Moller, of Katikati, a Waikato athlete, New Zealand representative at the 1974 Commonwealth Games and 1975 New Zealand Games. Liz Douglas, of Invercargill, Southland and New Zealand golf representative. Jenny MacDonald, of Outram, Otago, member of the New Zealand women’s hockey team during its tour of England and the Netherlands this year. Lyn Parker, of Hamilton,
vice-captain of the Waikato netball team and of the 1974 New Zealand team during its tour of England and at the international tournament, Auckland, in 1975. Dianne Zorn, of Mount Roskill, Auckland, New Zealand 3000 metre and onemile record holder.
Sandra Manderson, of Sumner, New Zealand judo representative. Karen Yorke, of Riccarton, a New Zealand roller skating representative. They will compete in rowin g , tennis, bowls, s w"i mmi n g , mustering, softball, netball, sprinting, and cycling.
