'Freedom’ party for election

PA Wellington The Alpha Party — advocating limited government, individual rights, and economic freedom and opposing Maori Parliamentary seats as racist—plans to contest at least 15 seats in the next General Election.

The party’s president (Mr Alan Pilmer) said that if enough people were available, it would contest all seats except the Maori ones.

“The separate Maori electoral system is frank racism and the Alpha Party will have no part of it,” he said.

“The Alpha Party is the champion of individual rights and all New Zealand citizens, regardless of race, colour, or ethical or political persuasion, would have their rights protected by a full, rational bill of rights.” Mr Pilmer said that the present Government had shown itself determined to continue record “taxation, massive bureaucracy, and increasing the already crippling intricacies of regulations and controls on all economic activities' as well as the rapid destruction of personal freedoms and individual rights.”
