Bidum Bidum wins
From
J. J. BOYLE
Auckland The Skelton brothers Bill and Bob went close to capturing a quinella from the Great Northern Foal Stakes, the $6OOO race for two-year-olds at Ellerslie yesterday.
Bill rode Bidum Bidum which made almost a romp of the race in winning by three and a half lengths. Bob’s mount Bally Trail was only inched out of second by Thunder Queen.
Bidum Bidum dashed through a wide gap on the inside clearing the false rail and never gave the others a look-in.
It was appropriate that Bill Skelton should ride Bidum Bidum in her first win in a Stakes race, for he considers that Master John, the sire of the filly to be the one of the best three-year-olds he has ridden, with Daryl’s Joy thrown in. Bidum Bidum is owned by Messrs W. P. McSweeney and R. I. Rodger and is trained at Te Awamutu by Brice and Robert Priscott who are seldom without a promising horse in their stable.
Arragon’s Comet, the dam of Bidum Bidum, was got by Arragon from a daughter of Cracksman, one of the best sons of Le Filou ever to race in New Zealand.
