Unpaid bills hit council

Unpaid power bills have cost the Lyttelton Borough Council nearly $2500 this year. The council was told last night that 80 accounts totalling $2445 were not recoverable.

The biggest outstanding account was for $792 for the Lyttelton Supermarket when it went into liquidation. Another $568 is a disputed account with Shaw Savill and Albion, Ltd. The council decided to write off the unpaid accounts.
