Free bus service
Sir, — I thank your correspondent M. J. Glubb (September 30) for his question on Labour’s policy for the Transport Board. We agree that a free bus senice is a sensible, long-term aim,
say for our second cr third term on the board. Over the next three years, Labour will be content first to hold fares, then progressively to reduce them. We are pledged to reduce fares within 20 months of taking office. Labour will attract people back to the buses, and provide a cheap and convenient alternative to traffic congestion, noise and pollution. We intend to make life better in our city. — Yours, €tC. ” T.
