Bennelong to run in Ist leg
Bennelong, a double acceptor at Wingatui tomorrow, will run in the D.P. Wilson Memorial first leg of the T.A.B. double. He will be ridden by the Riccarton: jockey, Michael Mein. Bennelong was a strong finisher for fifth in the highweight at the Geraldine meeting on Monday but be will be in stronger company in the Wilson Memorial. Leroy Brown, an impressive winner at the Geraldine meeting, will be another runner for Ray Harris’s at Wingatui tomorrow. The stable apprentice. l Stephen Woodsford, who won on Leroy Brown at Orari, will again have the mount in the Telegraph Handicap at Wingatui. The successful Riccarton hurdler, Celsius, was given a sharpening run on his home track as a lead-up to the Spring Hurdles tomorrow. ; On the No. 1 grass, which was firm. Celsius sprinted |Boom in 50.8 sec.
Fastest of the morning at that distance was Chiltero Blaze. which recorded 48.8 sec. He looks bright and strong. Aramos and lonian Sea, two-year-olds from Peter Jones’s stable, capitalised on the ideal conditions on a warm morning by dashing over 600 m in 35sec. I Aramos is by Azemann from Sharab, by Tip the Bottle, and lonian Sea is by Beaufort Sea from Kalimera, a useful winner for Mr J. F. i'Thwaites. I Earlier, another two-year-old, a colt by Aritzo from Miss Nahdu being prepared by Phil Andrews, sprinted 600 m in 36.65ec. i Cappello returned 52.65ec for 800 m, and I.ady Lucifer was keen to quicken while sprinting from the 600 m in 37.8 sec. Snapdragon ran her 800 m
in 49.25ec, and Onedin followed in 49.8 sec. ______
