Rod wins round one

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has ruled that Rod Stewart does not have to make temporary upkeep payments to his former lover, the Swedish actress, Britt Ekland, who is sueing him for S2IM. Miss Ekland, who is 34, had asked that Stewart pay her $5OOO a month and provide for the upkeep of their Hollywood mansion until her suit against him is decided. Miss Ekland, who lived with Stewart for two years until he walked out last month, was sued under a new California Supreme Court ruling that non-married couples are entitled to the same property settlements as married couples. She is asking for at least half of Stewart’s income during the time they lived together, which she estimated to be about SIOM.

But Superior Court Judge Edward Rafeedie said he felt that granting temporary relief to Miss Ekland would be to make major extension of the California Supreme Court ruling.
