Candidates
“The Press” begins today a series of introductions to candidates standing for the local-body elections on October 8. This is part of the election coverage by “The Press” which will include articles on some of the issues involved, problems facing the incoming authorities, possible solu-
tions, and a review of the ward system in Christchurch City after its first three years of existence. Inside today are profiles of the candidates standing for four local bodies — the Christchurch Transport Board, the Lyttelton Harbour Board, and the Akaroa and Heathcote counties — as well as their policy statements.
