Odd smell at Bowie film

The Westend Cinema tn Cathedral Square was cleared last evening, after what proved to be a justifiable false alarm. There was a nearcapacity audience for "The Man Who Fell to Earth,” starring David Bowie They waited outside for about 10 minutes while firemen traced the source of a smell of burning rubber — which had spread through the theatre. The smell had come from a slipping belt on the projection equipment, a spokesman for the management said.
