FIRM NEW ZEALAND MARKET
Share prices on New Zealand stock exchanges were firmer in moderately active trading yesterday. Arthur Ellis gained 4c on a good result and Canterbury Timber Products rose 3c after it was reported at the annual meeting that the company was no longer making monthly losses. Despite an optimistic preliminary report by Trans Holdings, its preference shares eased 2c. Also of note was the fact that the Christchurch Stock Exchange quotes have begun to call New Zealand Breweries by its new name, Lion Breweries, while the national sales have been content with the old name.
