Rolleston land for sale
Land bought by the Labour Government for the new town at Rolleston has been advertised for sale by tender. This is the second time that the Lands and Survey Department has called for tenders for Rolleston land. The first block was not sold, because the tenders offered did not reach the reserve. The second advertisement appeared in “The Press” on Saturday and called for tenders for three blocks of land with a total area of lllha.
They are on Selwyn Road, about skm southeast of Rolleston township. The land is zoned Rural X By the Ellesmere County Council, which means that no building is permitted on it. The blocks range from 57.9 ha to 20.7 ha. The Government valuation (January 1973) ranges from $36,300 to $25,500.
The Ministry of Works and Development acquired 1263 ha of land at Rolleston during the Labour Government’s term. More of the land would be sold after the disposal of the three blocks, for which tenders closed on October 10, said a Lands and Survey Department spokesman.
