Charlton potting in pubs

A pub crawl with a difference is being staged in Christchurch at present by one of the world’s bestknown sports personalities. The world snooker champion, Eddie Charlton, familiar to thousands of New Zealanders through his television appearances in the “Pot Black” programme, is playing a series of matches in Christchurch hotels. There are to be seven such visits in all. At each hotel, Charlton is playing five frames against each of three local players, selected after elimination matches. His final match in Christchurch will be played next Wednesday. For the games, special tables, and lighting have been provided. They give more scope for a display of snooker skills than the quarter-size ones often found in hotel lounges. Charlton, at each appearance, is also giving an exhibition of trick shots.
