‘EXPERT’ ADVICE
“One of the problems of our society today is that the status of many highlyeducated or academic people often extends beyond the realms of their individual competence. “Thus we have eminent ecologists, or biologists, or zoologists, or what-have-you — who should know better — speaking with great confidence to rapt and attentive audiences on issues such as town planning or architecture. "Many well-conceived development works in recent years have been frustrated and thwarted because those sections of society who opposed them hired such a brand of technological expertise.” From the second section of Mr Norman’s address which appears on page 12 of today’s “Press.”
