$1000 from euchre
Two Roxburgh men raised more than $lOOO last week, by playing euchre for two days and two nights. Messrs D. Rooney and D. Altenburg began playing cards at 1 p.m. on Thursday, finishing 48 hours later on Saturday afternoon. They played 133 games — winning 70 — to raise money for the Roxburgh Junior Maori Cultural Groups craft workshop. The men were sponsored by Roxburgh residents. Details of their fund-raising efforts will be submitted to the "Guinness Book of Records.”
