Rotarians in Christchurch|’ will listen to Samoan music i and eat Samoan food on Sep- < tember 27 as pan of their 1 promotion of Rotary Inter- i national’s “World Under- 1 standing Week.” I The week is intended to < advance international understanding, good will, and I peace. The Christchurch: Rotarians, in their “Focus on h Samoa,” will also view : Samoan arts and crafts and! listen to a talk on Samoa by! a Samoan woman living inj Christchurch, Mrs L. Crawley. A Rotan’ spokesman said! that, in the last year, the' Christchurch club had: sponsored a V.S.A.; engineer, Mr M. Underhill, in!
I Western Samoa; had provided a film projector for St Andrew’s School in Tonga; and had given funds to Corso for milk biscuits and a U.N.LC.E.F. nutrition and irrigation programme in Bangladesh. The club was also playing host to Yoko Asato, a Japanese student, who was ' attending a Christchurch [girls’ school and living with local families. I Rotary clubs throughout i the world would exchange i about 5000 high school ; students between countries, would give overseas study awards valued at thousands l of dollars, and would co- ; operate in projects to provide aid to communities and detveloping nations.
