Buyers lack confidence
As forecast by some brokers buyer confidence is waning as the market gets used to the Federal Budget, and Monday’s national wage decision has not helped matters with many leading stocks recording falls on Australian stock exchanges yesterday.
B.H.P. fell 14c to a new low of 544 c for the year. Hopes of a boost for it and other oil producers from the Federal Budget’s oil price rise appear to have gone.
Among other industrials, CSR rallied 2c to 287 c in defiance of recent falls and T.N.T. rose 3c to 108 c after falls which brokers and market watchers have had some trouble explaining. The banks traded mixed with the N.S.W. up 5c to 480 c, while the National Bank fell 3c to 255 c.
