Fire guts house
Fire gutted a State house at 169 Quinns Road, Shirley, early yesterday. The occupant of the house, Mr Paul Jones, aged 74. knew nothing about the blaze. He has been a patient at Tne Princess Margaret Hospital since Monday.
Mr J. Conlin, aged 35, who had been looking after the house, was admitted to Christchurch Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. He had been discharged bv last evening. Mr Jones lost all his possessions in the fire.
