Traffic officers to be charged
PA Auckland Three Auckland City Council traffic officers are to be subject to internal disciplinary charges after the inquiry into alleged thefts from impounded cars. Superintendent J. J. Nielsen, said yesterday that the charges did not involve dishonesty. The police were dealing with that aspect. “These charges relate to failure to follow proper procedures and breaching departmental regulations.” he said. A fourth officer had been dismissed after a disciplinary hearing. The police are continuing the inquiry, which has resulted in three officers being charged with theft as servants. and receiving. It is believed that further charges against other officers are unlikely, but that the police are making investigations in a towing firm.
