Noise lest

A sound test was carried out on the GTSSO Suzuki by the Ministry of Transport’s noise control officer, Mr R. W. Wright. Four decibel readings two in each direction — were taken under severe acceleration from 50km/h in third gear over a I measured strip of 20 metres. The Suzuki recorded 87 dbA on its first run, 84.5dbA on the re-i turn trip, 87dbA the third, time and, finally, 85dbA for an average of 86dbA. Wet conditions might. have slightly increased the readings because of greater tyre noise. This reading can be compared with the recommended maximum acceptable level of BtidbA, contained in the Board of Health’s repott on noise, for a new machine of this size. Noise readings will in future be taken of all motor-cycles tested by “The Press”.
