Flight from fire

A Human and her two young children fled in their night-clothes from a burning house in Linwood about 8 a.m. yesterday. Mrs Jill Mallock. of 84 Buckleys Road, suffered bums to her arms as she

tried to shepherd her children from her flat. She was treated at Christchurch Hospital and later discharged. The children, aged three and four, were carried to safety by passers-by. They were not injured.

It is believed that the blaze might have been started accidentally by the children. Some of Mrs Mallock’s belongings were saved, but a hallway and one bedroom of her flat were badly damaged.
