In Toronto she will be competing in the shot, javelin and discus Mrs Rimmer, who is 39, of Whakatane, has exceeded the Canadian standard in each event and is the brightest New Zealand medal hope. R. T. Ngata, of Tauranga. is another with excellent prospects of a gold medal in weight-lifting. He is already the holder of the world record at 185 kg. Early this month, he added another 15kg to the total but the new aggregate will not be recog nised as a fresh record because the feat was accom plished at a show demonstra tion.
