Successful operation
Purdo. winner of the Pareora Steeplechase at Washdyke on Saturday in the interests of Mr E E. McDonnell, of Alexandra, and the Gore trainer, Rex Cochrane, has his entry into racing delayed because of a stifle lock. A Gore veterinary surgeon, Mr Cyril McGrouter. who is soon to settle in Australia, successfully operated on the Lomond gelding as a three-year-old last season. Purdo was bought out of a sale of Mr W. E. Hazlett’s horses in Southland with his dam, Foveaux Strait, when he was a foal. Foveaux Strait is a close relation of Ettrick, a useful winner in the Hazlett colours.
