Brighton arcade
Construction of a $900,000! shopping arcade in New| Brighton is expected to begin [ before Christmas. It will provide space for a major department store and up to 14 other shops, and is j planned and financed by the' shopping centres division of the Fletcher Trust and Investment Company. The single-storey arcade will be on the corner of Seaview Road and Shaw Avenue, where New Brigh- , ton’s first Post Office stood. : Plans for the arcades have [been in existence for two years but building has been held up by objections to the [resiting of the New Brighton i Service Station, which occu- ! pies part of the land. ; However the Town and [Country Planning Appeal Board has permitted the service station to be moved.
