Govt staff deployed
Government departments; in Christchurch have been! able to continue employing' full staffs notwithstanding; the present unfavourable economic climate. trained for other jobs within the department where they were needed or transferred to other Government departments. The Inland Revenue Department which employs more than 300 people, has been able to continue employing even temporary staff efficiently. So far. only some of those taken on to help with work created by the defunct New Zealand Superannuation Scheme have left. Others will leave during the next eight months. They are doing other necessary casual I jobs.
