Olympic honour
Mr Harold Austad, th< president of the New Zealand Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association, has been awarded the silver order of the International Olympic Committee for service to the Olympic movement. The Olympic Order, like the Olympic medals, is in three grades—gold, silver and bronze. It is a rarely awarded honour. So far, only one gold medal has been awarded and that went to the late Mr Avery Brundage, the president of the International Olympic Committee for many years.
Mr Austad is now in his forty-ninth year of membership of the New Zealand Games committee.
