Squid ship’s owners drop legal action

The owners of the Taiwanese squid ship Kin Nan have decided not to take fur-1 ther legal action over the vessel’s seizure by the Royal; New Zealand Navy off New| Plymouth on March 30. A New Plymouth lawyer acting for the ship’s owners said yesterday that he had recently received such instructions from Taiwan. Early last month, the Chief Justice (Sir Richard Wild) dismissed appeals against convictions and sentences imposed on the master of the Kin Nan relating to fishing inside New Zealand territorial waters.
