‘Consumer’ magazine More subscribing to

PA Wellington The subscribing membership of the Consumer Institute’s journal, “Consumer” at the end of 1975 reached a record 135,471 —an increase of about 6000 on the previous year — according to the annual report of the Consumer Council tabled in Parliament today. The circulation of the quarterly “Consumer Review” rose to 22,817 in 1975 the report said, adding that only members of the institute can subscribe to the publication.

The complaints advisory service, established in 1973, received 12,648 complaints in 1974 and 21.832 in 1975, including 2220 minor cases.

Of the total number of complaints dealt with during the year — excluding the 2220 minor cases—l3.l per cent were complaints about price or price plus quality, and 86.9 per cent dealt with quality or other non-price matters.
