Fleet Symbol in top form
Special correspondent Hastings ! Fleet Symbol galloped in j the manner of a horse at the ; top of his form when he ; worked attractively on the i course proper at Hastings ; In the hands of Robert Jones, who will ride him in I ‘the Koputaroa Handicap at j Levin tomorrow, Fleet SymIbol strode over 800 m in 53.75ec. and was not pressed ; to cover his last 600 in 40.7. Fleet Symbol, by Hasty Cloud, was a brilliant winner at the recent Hawke’s Bay meeting on an «*sy track. While the rise in class will be formidable, the four-year-old has trained on pleasingly and looks certain to acquit himself well. Tom (McNab) a candidate for the Hatuma Lime Handicap, did little more than three-quarter pace over 1000 m, quickening a shade from the 600 m to record 44. ! Crown D’Or (Spotswood) continued his preparation for the $5OOO Ryder Stakes, by sprinting 600 m on the course proper in 39, which was good on soft ground with the markers wide out. Stablemates Country Charm (Miss Saxon) and La Posada (Jones) ran 1000 m in 1:8. the last 600 to 41.6, with Country Charm finishing with an edge.
