Home early

Pupils at Kaiapoi High School were sent home early yesterday afternoon to allow teachers additional time for the preparation and marking of work. The branch secretary of the Post-Primary Teachers Association (Mr K. Gilmore) said that pupils left the school at 2.35 p.m. instead of 3.15 p.m., the usual time. The move was to make up for time spent relieving other teachers, and was in line with the recommendations of the P.P.T.A.
