Holiday events

The following events have been organised for children during the May holidays. Cathedral Square.— 12.15 p.m. to 1.30 p.m.: Gospel hour for children with puppets, competitions, illustrated stories, ly the Associated Joytime Bible Clubs. Rowley Prirhary School.— 1.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.: art, craft and creative activities, for children 5 to 12 years from Rowley, Hoon Hay and Spreydon areas. Pre-school children must be accompanied by mothers. Waltham Primary School.—9 a.m. to 12 noon: art, craft and creative activities, for children 5 to 12 years from Sydenham, and Waltham areas. Children must be enrolled. Christchurch South Intermediate.— 9 a.m. to 12.15 p.m.: C reative activities and sport for children aged 10 to 13 years, in the school area. Cotswoid Avenue Primary School. — 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon: Creative activities for Cotswold pupils only. Demonstrations from 2 -».m. to 3 p.m. Freeville School.— 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon: craft, art and creative activities for children 5 to 12 years from the North Brighton area. Children must be enrolled. Mount Pleasant Community Centre. — 10 a.m. to 12 noon: craft, art. creative activities for children 5 to 12 years from Mount Pleasant and Redcliffs areas. Children must be enrolled. Canterbury Society of Arts.— Craft workshop for children aged from 7 to 16 years. Exhibition of art by children attending the Rudolph Steiner School.

Building Centre, 211 Cashel Street. — colouring competitions for children aged from 8 to 12 years. Cash prizes. Akela Street Scout Den. —lO a.m. to 3 p.m.: creative activities. Y.W.C.A. — 9.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.: Activities for 6 to 12 year olds at Y.W.C.A., St Mark’s Presbyterian Church, Burwood Community. Hall. Course for girls aged 13 to 16 years, “Learning to Live.” May 17 - 21, a tramping week for those aged 13 or over. Christchurch Competitions Society.— 9 a.m. to 10.30 p.m.: Dancing at Shirley Boys High School; 9 a.m. to 10.30 p.m., vocal section at Shirley Methodist Hall; 9 a.m. to 10.30 p.m., instrumental section, Shirley Intermediate Hall. Radio Avon.— 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.: At Canterbury Court, skateboard championships, and children’s games at a sportsman’s show and family fair. Apple hunts at city parks. Stay tuned to Radio Avon. - Wainoni Park Adventure Playground. — 10 a.m. to 12 noon. 1.30 pun. to 5.30 p.m. Closed in wet weather. Swimming. — Centennial Pool: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Queen Elizabeth II Park Pool: 8.30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wharenui Coronation Pool: 10 a.m. to 12 noon (general), 12 noon to 1.30 p.m. (adults only), 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (general).; Queen Elizabeth II Park Pool, Learn to Swim: 10 a.m. Classes for primarv and secondary school pupils.
