A fire in a bach resulted from this illegal light fitting (top). Completely defying safe practice, the occupant used a bayonet plug on an extension cord to
provide power to one of the battenholders, which was connected to the other to act as a socket tor a light. Removed from use at a
building site by an electrical inspector, this section (bottom) of a 400-volt, three-phase extension cable shows why it was impounded before it managed to kill any workmen.
