Burglaries
Sir, — Criticism of the! articles by Mr McCreedy in regard to the part the public should play in helping to apprehend criminals, particularly those concerning personal contact with burglars, was answered convincingly by remarks made during the course of a discussion on TV yesterday between Clar-( ence McKelley, director of! I the F. 8.1. in America and’ Dinah Shore, who proved I (herself ..o be a competent interviewer on serious (topics. Mr McKelley reite- ! rated the views propounded Iby Mr McCreedy to the effect that criminal elements will take over society unless people are shaken out of their apathetic attitude towards personal safety. He answered every individual query with the same emphasis on the necessity for each individual to make a consistent effort to protect property without endangering life unless it is necessary in self defence. — Yours ,etc., L. E. REID. March 9, 1976.
