Finn yacht series to U.K. man
(N.Z. Press Assn —Copyright) BRISBANE. International Finn Class Association officials confirmed yesterday that the Englishman, Chris Law, the 23-year-old Olympic sailer, has won the world Finn class championship which concluded on Brisbane’s Waterloo Bay on Saturday. Law, with a remarkable scorecard of consistency, thoroughly deserved his title win. His best five placings in the six races included two firsts, two seconds, and a third. Jonty Farmer, the Olympian from New Zealand, finished second over all and had always remained a constant threat to Law. Farmer recorded his best performances in heavy weather, and it was surprising to see him only manage fourth in the final race, with the winds gusting to 30 knots. Third place over all went to Australian Olympic representative. John Bertrand. John Douglas, of New Zealand, finished in over-all sixth place, with fellow countryman Bret de Thier ninth.
