Railway link severed (N.Z.PA.Reuter —Copyright) DAKAR, Dec. 19. The railway line linking Mauritania’s iron-ore mines near Zouerate with the port of Nouadhibou has been cut off, according to travellers reaching the Senegal capital. They report a serious situation in the area of the line that runs near the border between Mauritania and Western Sahara, where nationalist Saharan guerrillas of the Polisario Front have been fighting Mauritanian forces, who, they say, have suffered heavy losses. Mauritania has been given | joint control, with Morocco, iover the Western Sahara by ■ its colonial ruler, Spain, but the decision is opposed by ■ the nationalist guerrillas. The travellers say that a curfew has been imposed in Nouadhibou, Mauritania’s principal harbour.
