i (A.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. j i Two newcomers to first-class j I cricket have been named in the; Wellington squad for the first two matches of this season’s new | Shell series. They are Evan Gray] j and John Ross, both aged 21. Wellington’s first two matches are against Central Districts at Masterton on December 19-21, and Otago, at the Basin Reserve; on December 26-28. Another player new to Wellington status in the 12-manl squad is the Nottinghamshire! county professional Mike Harris, who is coaching in Hutt VaJ-i ley. Gray, a right-handed batsman and left-arm spin bowler, was aNew Zealand secondary school! representative to Australia in 1972-73 and 1973-74. He was also a member of the New Zealand] Bra bin XI against Wellington ' last season and scored a cenjtury in that match. Ross a right-arm, medium-; I fast bowler. Three members of the Wellington Plunket Shield side last! season—the all-rounder Brian Cederwall. the wicket-keeper, Robert Newton, and a new ball bowler, Stewart Cater, have been left out.
