Leading Aust, shares ease
Leading mining, oil and industrial shares eased on Australian stock exchanges yesterday, and traders said activity was subdued ahead of the General Elections this week-end.
BHP fell 6c to 702 c and ICI reacted to the sharp drop in profits by easing 10c to 170 c. EZ Industries, Lend Lease, CSR, Coles, Amatil and BMI were others to sell at lower prices, and most of the banks also eased. ACI was able to firm a little after Monday’s heavy fall. Comalco and Elders GM i also.improved. , Selling . pressure pushed i back MIM, CRA, Hamersley,! P e k o-W a 1 1 s e n d , Pan-, continental, Poseidon, Wood-side-Burmah and Weeks. Utah fell below the 1000 c! mark, and other coals also, eased. Coal and Allied,; dropped 22c to 268 c after; the grim forecast by its chairman. Gollin was cut back 2c at 18c.
