Tennis players who misbehave in future will get more severe penalties as a result! of a “code of conduct” drawn up by the Men’s International Professional Tennis Council. Players who argue with umpires, linesmen and opponents can be fined up to |SAust7Bo, and three offences jin a year can lead to suspension. I Although the new code of i j conduct ranges from punctu-j ality on court to the type of J clothing to be worn, it is the< ! section on court behaviour which is likely to arouse most ; interest. j There are 11 different 'offences listed, all carrying substantial fines or disqualiification. They include taking longer than one minute to change ends, throwing or kicking balls out of court in anger, swearing at officials, oppon-i ents or ballboys, not trying! hard enough or walking out; of a match.
