Soccer Scots ‘exiled’

(N.Z Prest Attn— Copyright) LONDON. Billy Bremner. Scot- ; land’s soccer captain and one of the world’s top players, has been booted out of international foothall by his country’s selectors.

Four other Scottish squad players—Joe Harber, of Hibernian, Willie Young and Arthur Graham, both of Aberdeen, and Pat McCluskey, of Celtic, have also been banned for life as a result of an incident in a bar after Scotland’s European Nations Cup-tie with Denmark.

The shock action, which brings an end to the international career of Bremner after 54 internationals, one short of the Scottish record held by Denis Law, came after a two-hour emergency meeting of the international selection committee in Glasgow.

The investigation, headed by the Scottish Football Association’s Secretary (Mr Willie Allan) was into the alleged rowdy behaviour of the five at a disco-bar late at night ■ after Scotland had won the match, 1-0. Policemen were called and the Scottish players were ejected. Bremner, aged 32, has a disciplinary record on the field that reflects his tempestuous character.
