N. Otago beaten

(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, Sept. 9. North Auckland ended its South Island Rugby tour on a high note at Oamaru yesterday, when it scored 11 tries in beating North Otago 53-12. Playing with a strong breeze, North Auckland led 27-6 at half-time and continued its domination in the second spell. All but one of North Auckland’s tries were scored by the backs, who bemused a sluggish North Otago side with their pace and attacking moves.

The only try notched by the forwards was gained by the flanker, Brent Mawson, normally a half-back, who came on at half-time because there were no forward reserves.
