Motor-cyclist killed

A motor-cyclist was killed and three persons were injured’ when a motor-cycle and a car collided on State Highway 73, at Annat, 40 miles west of Christchurch about 5.40 p.m. yesterday.

The car and the motorcycle are shown in the photographs. The motor-cyclist was: ALVIN JAMES MENZIES, aged 17, of Pocock Road, Springfield. The occupants of the car, who live at 163 Bealey Street, Hokitika, were taken to Christchurch Hospital by St John Ambulance. They are:

Alfred Moreton, aged 34, the driver, who suffered an arm injury. He was transferred to Burwood Hospi-

tai, but his condition was not available last evening. Andrea Moreton, aged 28, his wife, who suffered head and arm injuries. She was later discharged. Grant Moreton, aged four, their son, who suffered head injuries, and who is in a satisfactory condition in Christchurch Hospital. Constable K. A. Munro, of the Darfieid Police, said that the motor-cyclist was

on Barrs Road, crossing State Highway 73, when the collision occurred. The car rolled over.
